October 4, 1948 – December 1, 2025
Sara Diane Hazelwood Hodge, age 77, departed her walk through this earthly world and entered into her Heavenly Home on Monday morning, December 1, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Somerville, Tennessee.
Funeral services honoring Mrs. Sara’s life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tennessee, with visitation beginning at 1 PM and continuing until service time. Burial, with graveside service, will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery.
Born on October 4, 1948, in Whiteville, Tennessee, Mrs. Sara was the daughter of the late William and Martha Sue Hinson Hazelwood. She received her education through the Whiteville Public School System, and on January 11, 1965, she married the love of her life, Mr. Wayne, who survives. Together they planted their roots deep in the Moscow community, raising two children and shaping a home filled with warmth, love, and steadfast Christian values. Mrs. Sara wore the title of homemaker proudly and devotedly, pouring her heart into making their home a place where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and deeply loved.
A devoted Christian, Mrs. Sara was a woman who loved everyone—and who was loved by everyone in return. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling and being on the go, especially trips to the Smoky Mountains, one of her favorite places to unwind and enjoy the handiwork of God. Even as her health declined, her gentle spirit and love for others never faded. Her greatest joy was found in her family, and she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life, and she cherished each one dearly.
Though her sweet smile, loving spirit, and caring personality will be deeply missed, peace is found in knowing she has been completely healed, restored, and made new. Her family rests in the comfort that she is now Home in Heaven, safely sheltered in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, Mr. Wayne, cherished memories will continue to be shared by her daughter, Tammy Watkins (Bradley); her son, Anthony “BoBo” Hodge (Alicia); four brothers, Gary Hazelwood (Brenda), Carl Hazelwood (Brenda), David Hazelwood (Alison), and Ronnie Joe Hazelwood (Pam); her grandchildren, Jason Griffin, Ashley Wilburn (Heath), Coleman Hodge (Chelsea), and Kayla Hodge; and her six great-grandchildren, Gabriel Griffin, Chloe Griffin, Kadie Griffin, Emma Hodge, Daisy Wilburn, and River Hodge. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
