Nellie Faye Little Cook, 74

July 29, 1951 – December 3, 2025

“I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished the race.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 3, 2025, surrounded by the unending love of her family and covered in the faithful prayers of her community, our loving mother, caring Granny, devoted sister, and friend to so many, Mrs. Nellie Little Cook, stepped into the promises of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral services remembering this precious lady’s life will be at 2 PM Monday, December 8, 2025, at her beloved church, Academy Baptist Church, with Bro. Randy Buse and Bro. Wayne Cobb officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 8 PM on Sunday evening, December 7, 2025, at the church, and will continue Monday morning from 10 AM until the time of service. A graveside service will follow at Glenfield Memorial Park Cemetery, with Bro. Don Wilson offering prayer and scripture.

Born on July 29, 1951, in New Albany Hospital, Mrs. Nellie was the daughter of the late Joe Earl and Effie Jones Little. She was a proud graduate of Ingomar High School and attended Northeast Community College briefly before marrying the love of her life, Mr. Boyce Daniel “Danny” Cook, on June 11, 1971. Together, they planted deep roots in the Cotton Plant community, where they raised three beautiful daughters and worked the land they loved. Mrs. Nellie believed wholeheartedly in the value of hard work. She spent twenty-seven dedicated years with Futorian Manufacturing Incorporated in cost accounts before working with Albany Industries.

After the sudden passing of Mr. Danny on June 30, 1999, Mrs. Nellie—through strength that could only come from above—became the unwavering backbone of her family. She continued her career with Albany Industries for twenty more years before her semi-retirement. But Mrs. Nellie was never one to sit still. Her integrity, reliability, and gentle spirit opened the door for her to serve as a secretary at New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care and Ripley Funeral Home, where she became a familiar and comforting face to countless families. Whether answering phones, taking payments, or helping wherever needed, she served with grace and compassion.

A Christian and a faithful member of Academy Baptist Church, Mrs. Nellie loved the Lord with her whole heart. She served as church treasurer, and for many years poured her love into the children of the church as a Sunday School teacher. Generations of little ones passed through her classroom—each one remembering her gentle voice, warm smile, and the way she made every child feel important and cared for.

In her free time, Mrs. Nellie found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. She loved working outdoors, tending to her yard, and mowing her grass just the way she liked it. She enjoyed traveling, especially her cherished yearly beach trips with her family, and she was always up for a shopping day—particularly if Hobby Lobby was involved.

Of all the blessings God gave her, nothing compared to her family. She embraced the name “Granny” with all that she was. To her grandchildren, she was their greatest cheerleader—attending every game, every program, every moment where her presence could lift them just a little higher. She loved holidays, especially Christmas, when her family gathered close so she could spoil each grandchild and share the precious reading of the Christmas story from her Bible. To her daughters, she was the best mama anyone could ever ask for—steady, wise, honest, gentle, and forever in their corner. She was their guidance, their comfort, their safe place.

Though life will continue, it will not look quite the same. Christmas will come, but her chair—the one she always filled so warmly—will be tenderly, achingly empty. The stands at ballgames will hold one less familiar face, one less proud cheer rising above the crowd. The beach trips she loved so dearly will feel a little quieter, the waves a little softer, as her family remembers how she soaked in every moment of joy.

Yet in all these places, her love remains—woven into the traditions she built, the memories she shaped, and the faith she lived so beautifully.
Her race may be finished, but her legacy continues running strong in every heart she touched. We rejoice knowing she is made whole, resting in the arms of her Savior, reunited with her beloved Danny, and surrounded by a glory we can only imagine.

Those left to carry on such a wonderful legacy include her three daughters, Ginger Lansdell (Robin), Heather Meadows (Craig), and Meagan Childs (Brad), her grandchildren, Hunter Lansdell (Mollie), Gracie Barnett (Zach), Jackson Meadows, Maylee Ray Meadows, Millie Elle Meadows, Mary Micah Meadows, Ellie Daniel Childs, Welker Childs, and Fielding Childs, her great grandchildren, Charley Ruth Lansdell and Hardy Lansdell, brothers, James Wallace Little (Martha), Richard Little (Marina), and Randy Little (Brenda), and sisters, Sue Harrison (Gary), and Bonnie White, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who loved her deeply.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Joe and Lee Earl Little, and two sisters, Ella Gates and Bettye Bogue.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Robin Lansdell, Craig Meadows, Brad Childs, Hunter Lansdell, Jackson Meadows, and Zach Barnett, with honorary pallbearers being Welker and Fielding Childs, and Hardy Lansdell.
