Lucille Gray Partlow, 85
August 8, 1940 – December 17, 2025
Honoring the life and legacy of our first full-time black female officer on the Tupelo Police Force, Mrs. Lucille Gray Partlow, who passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
She joined the department in 1979, recognizing the opportunity to change not only her future but also the futures of others. Having previously worked with the department as a crossing guard, she became comfortable in her role as one of the ‘Girls In Blue’ over her 13 years on the force.
In 1964, she was awarded Crossing Guard of the Year. As a wife and mother of two sons, she entered the Mississippi Highway Patrol Academy, and one son, Herbert, later followed in her footsteps. Her husband, Walter Partlow, was the band director at Historic George Washington Carver who preceded her in death. Her son, Walter, is a business owner in our community.
We honor you, Mrs. Partlow, and thank you for your service. Our flags fly to honor you for your service.
