Linda Jo Goar Pannell, 70

August 8, 1955 – December 17, 2025

Linda Jo Goar Pannell, age 70, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, following an extended illness. Surrounded by care and love, she entered into eternal rest with grace and peace.

In accordance with her wishes, Linda will be cremated, and a service celebrating her well-loved life will be held at a later date. The family humbly requests your continued prayers and support during this time.

Born on August 8, 1955, in Corinth, Mississippi, Linda was the daughter of the late Claude “Buddy” Goar. She received her education through the Memphis Public School System and devoted her entire professional career to her work as a hairdresser. Through the years, she not only styled hair but built lasting relationships, offering listening ears, warm smiles, and genuine care to everyone who sat in her chair, until her retirement.

A devoted Christian, Linda was best known for her outgoing spirit and infectious personality. Whether standing in a grocery store line, seated at a restaurant table, or meeting someone for the very first time, she had a natural gift for conversation. She could connect with anyone, anywhere, and never lacked a story or kind word to share. Above all else, Linda treasured her family. She spoke often and proudly of her “kids”—a term that lovingly encompassed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—and her pride in them knew no bounds.

In her quieter moments, Linda found joy working sudoku books, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, and simply being surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. These moments brought her comfort and happiness, and they reflected the simple joys she cherished most in life.

Though her physical presence will be forever missed, her family clings to the countless memories shared with such a loving soul. Linda’s light continues to shine through those she touched, and her life leaves behind a lasting legacy—one that reminds us to be kind to others, to love our family fiercely, and to always strive to be a good person.

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Penny Hawkins, one son, Doug Davis (Candace), six grandchildren, Hannah Russell, Avery Davis, Dylon Hawkins, Michael Hawkins, Madison Jackson (Charles), and Cali Farrow, four great grandchildren, Khloe Pegues, Makel Girley, Sariah Jackson, and Malakai Jackson, along with a wide circle of family and friends.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ajax Johnson, and her grandson, Gage Davis.
