Charles Elgie Seamster, 83
September 21, 1942 – February 9, 2026
Charles Elgie Seamster, better known as “Charlie”, 83, a long-time resident of Plantersville, Mississippi passed away February 9, 2026, in Gautier, MS. Charlie was born September 21, 1942, in Sentinel, Missouri to Artie and Bessie Baby (Lightfoot) Seamster. After graduating from Bolivar High School, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for a tour of duty.
Charlie adored his lovely wife of 23 years, Pat Seamster, and he was lost without her. He loved his children, his grandchildren, and his dogs. He was a kind soul and a generous giver to anyone in need. Before everyone carried cell phones, he was known for stopping to help those stranded on the side of the road. He would offer assistance, give rides, and sometimes money. For many years, Charlie enjoyed playing cards with friends and family in person and later on the internet. He was passionate about Ole Miss football and Nascar.
Charlie had an outstanding work ethic and was a dedicated employee. He worked as a route deliveryman most of his career. Upon returning home Germany, he moved to Wichita, Kansas and went to work for Meadow Gold Dairy delivering milk. In 1970, when he moved with his young family to the Tupelo area, he worked for Hardin Bakery and later its successors Colonial Bread and Wonder Bread. After retiring from the bread delivery business, he went back to work delivering blood products to regional hospitals for Mississippi Blood Services.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Patricia “Pat” Nash Seamster. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Bessie Baby Seamster; siblings, Nola Mae Storment, James Willard Seamster, Junior Seamster, Donnie Seamster, Johnnie Seamster, Edsel Ray Seamster, Juanita Wilson, Betty Monier, and Shirley Potts; son, Charles Dwayne Seamster, and grandson, Paul Andrew Duffy.
A celebration of life service will be at 3:30 PM on Thursday February 12, 2026, at Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel with Kenny McGill officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 PM to service time on Thursday February 12th at Holland Funeral Director’s. For those unable to attend the service, it will be livestreamed at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/livestreaming and will be archived thereafter.
He is survived by his brother, Alvie Seamster of Bolivar, MO; son, Scott Seamster of Plantersville, MS; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Sean Duffy of Gautier, MS; daughter-in-law, Shannon Seamster Blackwell (Jeff) of Tuscumbia, AL; his family through union with Pat, daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Bob Dennis of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Daniel Duffy, Alex Seamster, Vaughn Seamster, Noah Duffy, Blake Curry (Terri), Mallori McBryde (Michael), Madison Dennis, Morgan Dennis; great grandchildren, Collin Curry, Beau Curry, and Lucas McBryde; the mother of his children, Linda Fraley Blackmon; and dear friends, Vickie Gober and Bob Griffin.
The family is deeply grateful to River Chase Village for providing a loving environment and exceptional care of “PaPaw”, as he was affectionately called by many. He was fortunate to form new friendships and to receive loving support from many of his fellow residents. River Chase really did become “his home away from home”. In addition, we are grateful to the compassionate staff of Hospice of Light for the care and support provided to him and his family during his final days.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mississippi Special Olympics, which held a special place in his heart for the support and opportunities provided to two of his grandchildren
