December 25, 1962January 25, 2026

Valerie Ann Kugle LaVanway, age 63, departed this earthly life on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at a hospital in Collierville, Tennessee. Surrounded by the love of her family in their hearts, she passed peacefully into eternity.

Honoring her personal wishes, Mrs. Valerie will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time. The family sincerely appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and every expression of kindness during this difficult season.

Born on December 25, 1961, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, Mrs. Valerie was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Rosalee Hauch Crumpton and Walter Crumpton, and the late Jerry Kugle. After completing her education, she found great fulfillment in being a loving mother, precious daughter, wonderful grandmother, and true friend to so many. The friendships she formed throughout life and the simple joy she found in her family reflected her warm and outgoing nature.

A woman known for her vibrant spirit, Mrs. Valerie was truly the life of the party and embraced each day to the fullest. She delighted in trips to the casino, playing games on her phone, working Diamond Dots, tending to her yard, and spending peaceful moments fishing. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from time spent with those she loved. Her grandchildren “hung the moon” in her eyes, her children were her constant pride and joy, and she treasured the companionship of Christopher. Never far from her side was her precious dog, “Cha Cha,” who brought her endless comfort and happiness.

Though her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her family finds peace in knowing she is now resting safely in the arms of her Savior. The legacy of her laughter, love, and unforgettable personality will continue to live on in the countless memories she leaves behind.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, those who will forever cherish her memory include her loving companion, Christopher Disterheft; her daughters, Amber Kugle (Cedric Nesbit), Ashley Leatherwood (Blake), and Jessica LaVanway (Larroderick Jones); her sons, Joshua LaVanway (Amy) and Gregory LaVanway (Victoria); her brothers, Vinson, Vaughn, and Virgil Kugle; twenty-four deeply adored grandchildren who were the light of her life, and two step brothers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Kugle; two sisters; and one stepsister.

Though she is gone from our sight, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
