James Willie Longs, 71

January 31, 1955 – April 29, 2026

James Willie Longs, who was born on January 31, 1955, in Tupelo, Mississippi, and passed away on April 29, 2026, at his residence in Pontotoc, Mississippi, was a beloved husband, father, and friend whose life was marked by faith, laughter, and devotion to those he loved.

“Hancock” attended Tupelo High School and was later employed with K.I. in Tupelo. He was a member of Wilson Chapel MB Church in Pontotoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hancock, Sr. and Beatrice Agnew; the family that raised him, Jessie King and Minnie Lee King; one son, James Long, Jr.; one sister, Cynthia Berry.

James Willie Longs will be remembered by his wife, Patricia Lindsey Longs; his children, Laine Co’Monica Longs, Olivia Longs, and Serita “Nicole” Longs; his brother John “BaJohn” King; his sisters, Marie Hancock and Cassandra; his grandchildren, London Longs, Brandon “Rock” Freeman, and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a special friend, Randall Crayton.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Wilson Chapel M.B. Church, 1870 Wilson Chapel Road, Pontotoc, MS 38863. There will be no service or interment.
