Maria Costello Medlin, 73

August 30, 1952 – May 18, 2026

Maria Antonetta Medlin, 73, resident of Blue Mountain, longtime resident of Tippah County and widow of Michael Grigg Medlin, passed away peacefully at her home on May 18, 2026.

Services for Mrs. Medlin will be at 2 PM Thursday, May 21, 2026, in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1 PM until service time Thursday, August 21, 2026, at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Blue Mountain. There will be no graveside services.

Born August 30, 1952, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mavoline Costello. Mrs. Medlin was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ripley and was formerly employed by New Albany Baptist Hospital where she worked in administrative services for many years.

She will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, her love for animals and her kindhearted willingness to help anyone in need. Her many interests included collecting music boxes, watching television, oil painting and spending time with those she loved most. Above all, she treasured her family and cherished every moment shared with them.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Patrick Medlin and wife Rhonda of Gulf Shores; three granddaughters, Kara Lumpkin and husband Justin, Shauna Stathopoulos and husband John and Leah Sanderson and husband Jesse; seven great grandchildren, Hendrix and Shep Quartaro, George, Nina and Joanna Stathopoulos and Emery and Lilly Sanderson; her sister-in-law, Donna Costello; nieces, Tina Neely and family; nephew, T.J. Costello and family; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband, Michael Grigg Medlin, Mrs. Medlin was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mavoline Costello, and her brothers, Edward Costello and Thomas Costello.
