Brenda Duncan, 77

Brenda Ann Howell Duncan, cherished by all who knew her, passed away on May 20, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany, Mississippi, at the age of 77.



Born on August 19, 1948, in New Albany, Mississippi, Brenda was the daughter of the late Walter Darden Howell and Mary Evelyn Froman Howell. She grew up surrounded by family and carried the values of love, kindness, and hard work throughout her life. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Danny Howell and Jimmy Howell.

Brenda devoted her life to her family and home as a homemaker, a role she embraced with grace and dedication. She was a loving wife to her husband, George William Duncan, Jr., and a devoted mother to her three daughters, Tracy Greganti and her husband Frank, Christy Duncan, and Amanda Lawrence and her husband Wes. Her family was the center of her world, she found great joy in caring for those she loved.

She was a proud sister to Sheryl Smith and a treasured grandmother to Kyle McGhee, Micah McGhee, Hannah Allen, Will Greganti, Jade Taylor, Israel Roberts, and Lyla Lawrence. Brenda also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Braxton Lee, Keaton Lee, Keegan McGhee, Madilynn McGhee, Patrick Gibbs, Kyleigh Gibbs, and Isaiah Gibbs, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident in the time, attention, and affection she gave them, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Brenda enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and making ceramics, and she took pride in the simple pleasures of creating a warm and welcoming home. She was known for being loving, kind, and handy, and those qualities were reflected in the way she cared for others and approached life. Her gentle spirit and steady presence left a lasting impression on her family and friends.

Those who knew Brenda will remember her as a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, family devotion, and everyday acts of kindness that will continue to be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be at United Funeral Service on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Fred McGuffin will officiate. Burial will be at Gerizim Cemetery.
