Scarlett Leigh Reeder, 84
September 21, 1941 – May 22, 2026
TUPELO – Scarlett Leigh Windham Reeder, 84, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Scarlett was the daughter of the late Jewel and Ella Neal Windham. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, William Lynn “Bill” Reeder, who passed away on October 30, 2025; her grandson, Wilson Reeder; and her brother, Jimmy Windham.
Scarlett dedicated her career to serving children and families as a Special Education Administrator with Pontotoc City Schools. She had a heart for helping others and spent her life making sure those around her felt loved, cared for, and supported.
After retirement, Scarlett found joy in working in her yard, planting flowers, researching her family ancestry, and spending precious time with her family. Her favorite role in life was loving on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when everyone was gathered together, enjoying one of her home-cooked meals and making memories around her table. Scarlett had a gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and important.
She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo and treasured the friendships she made through her retired teacher PTO group and within her neighborhood community, where she shared a special bond with many families over the years.
Scarlett leaves behind her children, Jeff Reeder (Lee), Melissa “Missy” Sheffield (Eric), and Walter Reeder (Kim); her grandchildren, Kirk Reeder (Destiny), Ross Reeder, Kyle Weaver (fiancé Morgan), Wesley Weaver (fiancé Robin), Anna Reed Wood (Clayton), and Windham Reeder; and her great-grandchildren, Crixus Weaver, Easton Wood, Olivia Wood, and Kaden Reeder. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom Windham (Kathy) and Bill Windham (Diane); her dear friend, Arweeda Coker; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Generations Senior Living for the love and care shown to our mother. Taylor Kyle from Community Hospice went above and beyond showing care and compassion during her final days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 1 PM with services following at 2 PM.
Though her family’s hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing Scarlett is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved Bill — a reunion surely filled with love and joy. Her legacy of kindness, strength, love, and devotion to family will live on through all who knew and loved her.
