Liz Rutledge, 81
February 15, 1945 – July 10, 2026
Sarah Ann Jennings Rutledge, known lovingly as Liz, passed away on July 10, 2026, at her residence in New Albany, Mississippi. She was born on February 15, 1945, in New Albany, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and quiet strength.
Liz was a loving, selfless, and friendly woman who touched the lives of many through her warm spirit and gentle presence. She was retired and had previously worked at Futorian Mfg. before retiring from Wal-Mart. Throughout her life, she carried herself with grace and humility, and those who knew her will remember the sincerity with which she cared for others.
She was a member of Grace Point Church of God. Liz found great joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every opportunity to be with them. She also enjoyed watching classic movies and loved her dog, Lizzie, who brought her comfort and companionship.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence B. Jennings and Dorothy Raines Jennings; her husband, William Pannell; her husband, Billy Rutledge; her infant sister, Ruby Grace Jennings; and her brother, Raymond Jennings. Though she experienced many losses in her lifetime, she remained a source of love and encouragement to those around her.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Pannell and his wife Trista, and Mike Carson and his wife Melody; seven grandchildren, Cody Carson, Kasey Carson, Jonah Pannell, Londyn Pannell, Sophia Pannell, Presley Stevens, and Olivia Ozbirn; one great-grandson, Silas Carson; and two step-sons, Kenneth Rutledge and Randy Rutledge. Her family will forever cherish the memories they shared with her and the example she set through her loving heart and steadfast care.
Liz will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the kindness she showed so naturally, and the many ways she made life brighter for those around her.
A visitation will be held at United Funeral Service on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. Bro. James Wells will officiate. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Gardens.
