Police Chief Chris Robertson warns of burglaries, advises vigilance and seeks information

To the Citizens New Albany, MS: It is my unfortunate duty to tell you we have a thief or thieves among us.

For the past two weeks we have had several car burglaries on and around South Central Avenue, Camp St., Glade St., and in this general area. So far, they have only hit vehicles that have been left unlocked overnight.

Please lock you homes, vehicles, and out buildings or sheds. I understand the electric bills are higher this time of year because of the heat, but if possible leave additional lights on so when officers come by they can see any problems easier. Also, if you have doorbell or driveway cams please make sure they are in working order. For those who do not have cameras, most everyone can afford some type and can consider it a long term investment for your property.

We will enhance our enforcement efforts and anyone in the area out late or earlier expect to have an officer check on you to make sure you’re doing ok.
