Jessie Lee Scott, 77
January 26, 1949 – September 9, 2026
Jessie Lee Scott (affectionately known as “Fox” or “Brother” by his family), 77, of Tupelo, Mississippi, transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 with his daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandson, and his special friend and caregiver at his bedside.
Jessie was the second child of Mr. & Mrs. Lee Edward Scott Sr. and Corean Brooks Scott-Carter. Fox accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior under the leadership of Reverend Floyd Thompson, Mt. Avery Missionary Baptist Church – Brooksville, Mississippi, at an early age. After moving
to Tupelo, MS, Fox joined Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Fox was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. & Mrs. Lee Edward Scott Sr., Corean Brooks Scott-Carter and Stepfather Robert Carter; two brothers: Charles Easker Atterberry; Lee Edward Scott Jr; grand-parents: Mr. & Mrs. L. P. & Nancy Samuels-Brooks; five aunts: Bertha Sanders, Alena Gunn, Mary Kelly, Mattie Mosley-Westbrook, Annie B. Brooks; nine uncles: Jesse, Crist, Walter, Prealus, James Thomas, James Earl, Sammy, and Earnest Brooks.
Fox attended Wilson Elementary in Brooksville, MS, until he relocated to Tupelo to live with his mother, Corean Scott-Carter. He graduated from Carter High School in 1969 and attended Mary Holmes College in West Point, Mississippi.
After leaving Mary Holmes College, Fox started his journey working at Hunter Sadler, Aircap, Tecumseh, and especially working with his mother at the Chatter Box Café until his mother retired.
Fox was known and taught to be respectful, kind, and considerate. He was a little quiet, but his quietness had a way of speaking for him. His warm smile could say so much, and when Fox smiled, you knew there was goodness in his heart.
Fox also loved to eat! In fact, he would often say, “If I’m not eating, I must be sick!” That was Fox—he enjoyed good food, good company, and the simple pleasures of life. His love for food was one of those little things about him that made the family smile and gave us memories we will always treasure.
He had a gentle spirit and a calm way about him. He did not have to say much to let you know how he felt. His presence, his smile, his quiet nature, and his little sayings made him special. Fox was simply Fox, and there will never be another quite like him.
Fox leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Sharon Scott-Rogers of Lorain, OH and Coreena Sott of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren: Zaccherriah Scott, Shamiya Guyton, Laikyn Scott, Shamar Townsel, Brittany St’Louis and Javona Lawrence Chicas; five great grandchildren: Karter Hunt, Serenity Townsel, Cassie Aigee, Zaiden St’Louis and Xionna St’Louis; three aunts: Dorothy Brooks-Sykes, Earnestine Brooks-Ray and Santiana Brooks-Ervin (Willie); nieces, cousins and many friends. Special friend and Caregiver Berneitta Scott-Loving.
