Betty Burch, 90

Betty Raines Burch, 90, passed away on September 21, 2026, at Union County Health and Rehab after a long illness. She was born on October 27, 1935, in New Albany, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by kindness, gentleness, and devotion to the people she loved.

Betty worked for many years at New Albany Hospital, where she served as a registered CNA and caregiver. She took great pride in caring for others and approached her work with patience, dedication, and a sincere desire to help those in need. Her years of service reflected the same nurturing spirit that she shared so freely in her personal life.

Outside of work, Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to her. She loved cooking, spending time with her dogs, going fishing, and watching birds. She also enjoyed watching old black and white scary movies and old westerns. These interests brought her joy and comfort, but above all else, Betty treasured her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she found great happiness in being surrounded by them.

Betty is survived by her five children, sons Danny Joe Burch and his wife Diane, Joel Burch and his wife Kathy, and Tommy Burch, and daughters Paula and her husband Mike, and Tina . She is also survived by one brother, Terry Raines, along with ten grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her family was a source of great pride and joy throughout her life, and her love for them will remain a lasting legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ralph and Pauline Jones Raines, her husband of 45 years, Joe Raymond Burch, and one brother, Willie Raines. Betty was deeply devoted to her family, and the bonds she shared with them were strong and enduring. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.

A service to honor Betty’s life will be on Wednesday, September 23, at 2:00pm with a visitation being before from 12:00 noon until the start of the service. All at United Funeral Service. Buial will be at Old Glenfield Cemetery. United is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements
