John Author “Hopper” Burress, 76

August 13, 1950 – October 5, 2026

John Author “Hopper” Burress was born on August 13, 1950 to James Lacy Burress and Maybell Carpenter Burress.  He departed this earthly life on Monday, October 5, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, MS.

John graduated from Thrasher High School  He enlisted in the United States Military and was honorably discharged. He was self-employed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Maybell Burress, siblings: James Lacy, Jessie B. Burress, Luther Burress, Betty Louise Burress, Mattie Mayes, Justine Nunn, Louise Stafford and Savannah Burress Hampton.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Travis Price (Jasmine); and his three (3) grandchildren, Jasmine M. Price, Quaynnedarius Price and Tkai Pope and other relatives and friends.
