Theresa Stanford Nichols, 69

August 5, 1957  –  November 3, 2026

Theresa Stanford Nichols, a loving, passionate, and courageous woman, passed away on November 3, 2026, after a long battle with cancer, in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, at the age of 69.

Theresa was born on August 5, 1957, in New Albany, Mississippi, to Perry Harold Jordan and Lula Little Jordan, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by devotion to her family and a deep care for others. She lived her life with strength, grace, and a steadfast spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Theresa was a 1976 graduate of W. P. Daniel High School and later earned her certification as a CNA. In her early years, she worked in a factory before pursuing the caregiving work that would become one of the great callings of her life. She served in nursing homes and in hospice care, where she found purpose in tending to others with compassion and dignity. Her patients were blessed by her gentle heart and the sincere concern she showed each person in her care. She did not simply do her work, but gave herself fully to it, and she was dearly loved and respected by those who knew her professionally.

Theresa was a Christian whose faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Academy Baptist Church. She carried herself with quiet strength and a resilient spirit, even through the long and difficult journey of cancer. She was a courageous and tough fighter, and she met each challenge with determination and an unwavering will to keep going. Her life reflected perseverance, and she remained a source of love and encouragement to her family throughout her illness.

Family was the center of Theresa’s heart. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and the time she spent with her great-grandson, Cam. She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, especially when surrounded by those she loved most. She is survived by her husband, Darryl Nichols; her son, Perry Michael Stanford; her best friend and sister, Lillian Jordan; her grandchildren, Anna Kate Stanford Willard and her husband Ryan, Jackson Stanford, and Luke Stanford; her great-grandson, Cam Willard; her loving daughter-in-law, Amy Freeman Stanford; and numerous bonus grands and great grands who were also blessed by her love and presence. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mike Stanford.

Theresa enjoyed sitting on her front porch and watching the birds and her flowers grow. Those peaceful moments reflected the beauty of her spirit and the comfort she found in home and family. She also loved singing and was blessed with a beautiful alto voice that brought warmth to those who heard her. Her voice, like her life, carried a gentle strength and a sense of peace. She lived life to the fullest, and she did so with a heart that was open, caring, and full of love.

Theresa Stanford Nichols will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the compassion she showed to others, and the courage she displayed throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be treasured always, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Services to honor her life will be Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Academy Baptist Church, with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm, with Bro.
