Action Lanes fire handled quickly by NAFD
New Albany MS- Action Lanes fire quickly extinguished:
Fast action by the New Albany Fire Department (NAFD) helped prevent serious damage from a fire at a New Albany business early Saturday morning.
At approximately six am, a report was received of black smoke coming from the Action Lanes bowling alley at 504 West Bankhead St.
“Upon arrival we made entry, set up the ladder truck, and found the source of the fire was actually on the roof of the building,” said NAFD Deputy Fire Chief Mark Whiteside.
“The source of the Action Lanes fire was a wheeled cart that holds tar for roof repair. Reports were a roofing crew had been making repairs the prior day.
“The fire was quickly extinguished with insignificant damage and fire crews returned to available duty,” said Whiteside.
Fifteen firefighters and three pieces of fire fighting equipment responded to the fire call at the bowling alley.
