Allen Glen Maness, Sr., 69
September 27, 1955 – April 10, 2025
Allen Glen Maness, Sr., known affectionately as Glen Maness, left this world on April 10, 2025, at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, at the age of 69, after a lengthy illness. His journey began on September 27, 1955, as the cherished son of Roy Julian Maness and Maggie Lou Barber Maness. His life was a tapestry of deep family bonds, steadfast work ethic, and a love for the simple joys that make a life well-lived.
Glen was a family man, sharing his life’s journey with his beloved wife, Willa Virginia McLeroy Maness, and their son, Allen Maness, Jr. His legacy of kindness and care is also carried forward by his brothers, Roy Maness (Lisa), James Lannie Maness, and Michael Maness (Kristy). His sister, Donna Maness Sappington, and his parents preceded him in death, but the memories they shared continue to resonate with all who knew the Maness family.
A graduate of Hickory Flat Attendance Center, Glen’s professional path as a draftsman was marked by precision and dedication. His colleagues respected him for his expertise and his amiable nature made him a pleasure to work alongside. Though he retired from his drafting career, the meticulous skills and attention to detail he honed over the years were evident in every project he undertook.
Glen’s interests were a reflection of a man who loved actively engaging with the world around him. He was happiest outdoors, whether he was deer hunting or perfecting his aim during target shooting sessions with his treasured guns. Motorcycles and side-by-side rides with his wife were among his favorite pastimes, each adventure reinforcing the bond they shared. Glen’s abilities as a handyman were well-known, as he found joy in tinkering around the house and building. His hands were rarely still, always working on a project or playing dominoes, a game he enjoyed.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Glen would describe him as friendly, with a gentle demeanor that drew people to him. His smile was a beacon of warmth, and his handshake, a symbol of a man you could count on. Glen’s life was one of purpose and pleasure in the simple acts of kindness and the fulfillment of a job well done.
Glen leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, of lessons taught through actions rather than words, and a steadfastness that served as the foundation for his family. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact of his life will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
As we bid farewell to Glen, we celebrate a life marked by devotion to family, a passion for the outdoors, and a breadth of knowledge and skill that made the world a better place. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
