Ann Barkley
New Albany—Ann Elizabeth Ford Barkley, 88, joined Jesus and her loved ones in her Heavenly Home on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Her mind and body have been perfectly restored. She was born April 24, 1930, in Union County to John Pinkney Ford, Jr., and Ellen Verlie McAllister Ford. She was a member of New Albany Presbyterian Church. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved gardening and working in her yard. In her later years she loved square dancing and was a member of both the Union County group and the Tippah County group. She especially delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2019, at New Albany Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Brent, Rev. Bill Everett, and Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by 1 daughter: Sandra Ann Barkley McCollum (Steve) of Blue Mountain; 1 son: Dr. Thomas Ford Barkley (Betty Lou) of New Albany; 5 grandchildren: Ginger Ellen M. Statom, Angela Porter B. Davis (Jim), Samuel Ross Barkley (Lara), Leslie Suzanne M. Brockway (Patrick), and Corrie Elizabeth B. Reed (David); 19 great-grandchildren: Margaret Ann Statom, Virginia Grace Statom, Sarah Christine Statom, and Ellen Elizabeth Statom, all of Germantown, TN., Cora Elaine Brockway, Elliot McAllister Brockway, and Luke Steven Alan Brockway, all of New Albany, Turner Barkley Davis, Collins Samuel Davis, Ivey Katherine Davis, and James Robert Davis, all of Orlando, FL., Samuel Evans Barkley, Thomas Pryor Barkley, Eley Grace Barkley, and Robert Porter Barkley, all of Oxford, MS., Audrey Catherine Reed, Whitten David Reed, Elizabeth Bennett Reed, and Bennett Michael Reed, all of Oxford, MS.; and a special friend: Wayne Heavener.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Samuel Thomas Barkley; 1 sister: Ruth Hazel Ford Robbins; 4 brothers: John Stephen Ford, William Clifford Ford, Ralph Doyal Ford, and Walter Boswell Ford; an infant son; and a great-grandson: Joseph Barkley Reed.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Ross Barkley, Michael David Robbins, John Norman Robbins, John Charles Ford, Patrick Charles Brockway, and David Michael Reed.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at United Funeral Service. The body will lie-in-state from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the church.
