Anne Pettigo, 76

December 23, 1948 – August 27, 2025

Patricia Anne Kemp Pettigo, affectionately known as Anne Pettigo to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in New Albany, MS, at the age of 76. Born on December 23, 1948, in Tremont, MS, she was a daughter of the late Olen Kemp and Jewel Riddle Kemp. Anne’s warm presence and optimistic spirit brought joy to all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed.

Anne’s life was one of service and joy. She filled her days with love for her family, friends, and the many animals she cared for. Her dedication to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She is survived by her loving children: daughter Tina Worthey (Sherry Berry) of New Albany, MS; sons Donnie Kemp and Chris Kemp, both of Mantachie, MS; her cherished three grandchildren, her three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild who brought her immense pride and happiness. She also leaves behind her sister, Helen Abbott, who shared a special bond with Anne throughout their lives. Anne was reunited in death with her sister, Verdie Pickens, and brother, David Kemp, who both preceded her.

Anne’s working years were spent bringing smiles to the faces of those she worked with at The Warehouse Restaurant in New Albany, MS. Despite retiring due to health reasons, the memories of her time there remained a source of great joy and pride. Her colleagues were not just people she worked with but were considered part of her extended family.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Anne’s love for her church family was profound. She was a beacon of light, sharing her loving and spirited nature with everyone she encountered. Her faith was an essential part of who she was, and it was reflected in her kindness and the positive impact she left on her friends and family. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Anne’s passion for life was evident in her diverse interests. Her early morning walks were a cherished ritual that brought her peace and joy. She was a fixture at local softball games, cheering on her daughter and the team, affectionately referring to them as her “softball girls” long after her daughter stopped playing. Her enthusiasm and support for the team were unwavering and marked by her characteristic optimism.

Those who knew Anne best would describe her as loving, optimistic, and spirited. Her ability to see the best in people and situations was a gift that she generously shared with others. Her laughter was infectious, her support unwavering, and her love boundless. Anne’s legacy is one of love, and it will continue to be felt by her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.

We celebrate a life well-lived, full of passion, kindness, and an unquenchable zest for life. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told and the love shared among those who were fortunate enough to know her.
