Arthur Koon, 87

February 27, 1938  –  December 15, 2025

Arthur Koon, a cherished soul known for his friendly demeanor passed away on December 15, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS, at the age of 87. Born on February 27, 1938, in Booneville, MS, Arthur was the beloved son of the late David Jackson Koon and Jodie Hicks Koon. His roots in Mississippi were deep, and it was here that he cultivated a life rich in family, faith, and community.



Arthur was a proud graduate of Wheeler High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. His professional journey was marked by many fruitful years at Mohasco, where he was not just an employee but a valued team member. Upon his retirement from the furniture industry, Arthur found joy in his work at Union Lumber Company, where he continued to contribute his skills and camaraderie.

Arthur is survived by his son Steve Koon (Renae); daughter, Lori Koon Edge (Benjy); five grandchildren, Bailey Bonduris (William), Lauren Whitten (Matt), Zack Koon (Grace), Riley Davis (Peyton), and Connor Edge; five great grandchildren; brothers, Milton Koon (Diane), Larry Koon (Brenda), and Randall Koon (Connie). He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carlyon Green Koon on May 6, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Brenda Joyce Koon, Janie Koon Gilley, Billy Koon, Gilbert Koon, and David Koon.

A man of devout Christian faith, Arthur was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in New Albany, where he was a member of the Charlie Hall Sunday School Class. His religion was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing comfort and community throughout his years.

Arthur’s passions extended beyond the walls of the church and his workplace. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and pleasure in the quiet moments by the water. His love for woodworking was not just a hobby but a bond that he shared with his brothers—a testament to the importance of family in his life. Together, they created not just tangible pieces but memories that would endure for generations.

His family was the light of his life. Arthur was a devoted father and grandfather, whose greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. The love and lessons he imparted to them are legacies that will continue to live on.

Those who knew Arthur will remember him for his warm smile and the ease with which he forged friendships. His creative touch was evident in everything he did, from his craftsmanship to the way he approached life’s challenges. Arthur’s presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Arthur’s journey through life was marked by the love he shared and the lives he touched. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories that his family and friends will cherish forever. Arthur Koon’s story is one of a life well-lived, filled with faith, and a large family. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and influence those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.

A service to honor his life will be Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church in New Albany with Pastor Andrew Chesteen officiating. A visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will be in Glenfield Memorial Gardens.
