Baptist Healthplex to change owners August 1st.

NEW ALBANY, MS- Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County has announced that the Baptist HealthPlex will transition to a new owner effective August 1, 2016.

Flex Fitness, LLP will take over operations as of 12:01 a.m., August 1, 2016. Their long- term goal is to make enhancements to the facility, and make the transition a seamless one for members.

“The Baptist HealthPlex has become a community cornerstone of health and fitness,” said Walter Grace, CEO and administrator of Baptist Union County. “It is with great consideration that this decision was made.”

Grace added that Baptist has invested over $400,000 into enhancing the Baptist HealthPlex since taking ownership of the facility in 2006. Membership has climbed from 708 members when Baptist purchased the HealthPlex to 1,139 members today, which is a 60 percent increase.

Although Baptist has the exceptional ability to manage hospitals, Grace stated that “the decision to change ownership was based on our honest evaluation that another owner, with a devoted focus on managing wellness and fitness centers, would be a better choice for the community. With the many changes quickly taking place in health care, our full attention needs to be devoted to management and growth of the hospital.”

The Baptist Rehabilitation Clinic will continue services at its current location at the facility.
