Barbara Jean Leach Edwards passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in New Albany, MS, at the age of 78. Born on October 5, 1946, in Louisville, MS, Barbara was a source of love and laughter to all who were blessed to have known her.
Barbara’s life was deeply rooted in family, and she cherished every moment spent with her beloved children, her two daughters Paula Dettor (Joe) and Diane Burns (Lonnie), her three sons Jimmy Jarvis (Christel), Michael Jarvis (Regina), and Chuck Edwards (Hope), and the rich legacy of 31 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who kept her heart full.
She was the heart of a large and loving family, which included her five sisters Frances Mayo (Jimmy), Judy Pannell, Darlene Horton, Debbie Leach, Rebecca Faulkner, and two brothers Billy “Butch” Leach and Rickey Leach.
Barbara was preceded in death by her steadfast husband Cecil H. Edwards, her caring father Charles Henry Leach, her nurturing mother Ruba May Hickerson Leach, and her dear daughter Brenda Louise Jarvis.
As a retired seamstress from Hillcraft Furniture, Barbara’s skilled hands and creative spirit were well-known. Beyond her professional endeavors, she greatly enjoyed cooking for her family, exploring yard sales, and she had an innate knack for making others feel cared for and valued.
Those who knew Barbara will fondly remember her as loving, funny, and friendly. Her fun-loving nature and boundless energy brightened the lives of friends and family alike.
Barbara’s passing leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved her, but her legacy of joy and kindness will continue to inspire and resonate for generations to come. Her life was a testament to the beauty of giving and the strength of kindheartedness in the world.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, all held at United Funeral Service. Burial will be at Center Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
