Tupelo – Betty J. Herron, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Tupelo, Mississippi. Betty was born Saturday, February 24, 1945, to Toy Archer and Mary Jane Hamilton.

Betty enjoyed working in the restaurant business, a career she found great enjoyment in throughout most of her life. She liked staying busy and enjoyed many simple pleasures. Betty especially loved dancing, shopping, and traveling. As an avid outdoors person, she was never afraid to get outside and work, mowing her yard.

Betty is survived by her three children, Pam Hallmark, Terry Hallmark, and Dudley Hallmark (Beth); seven grandchildren, Samantha Inghram (Greg), BJ Kent (Morgan), Latashia Holiman (Drew), Cody Hallmark (Madison), Ryan Taylor, Dewayne Russell, and Jamie Russell; five great-grandchildren, Preston Young, Tatum Inghram, Addison Hallmark, Wyllow Hallmark, and Denton Russell; sister, Barbara Moore; and brother, Tommy Archer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Toy Archer and Mary Jane Archer; husband, Ray Herron; brother, Larry Archer; and sisters, Kathy Archer and Maggie Reid.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

The funeral service honoring Betty’s life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors, with Bro. John Gail officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Hester, Preston Young, Cody Hallmark, Chris Archer, Perry Smith, Dudley Hallmark, Kenny Russell, Dewayne Russell, and Jamie Russell.
