Betty Jean Myles, 77

Betty Jean Myles, a devoted Christian, was born on February 1, 1949, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and departed this life on September 5, 2026, in Plano, Texas. She lived a life marked by faith, kindness, strength, and a deep love for her family and community. Betty Jean was known for her warm spirit, her gentle heart, and the grace with which she carried herself through every season of life.
She was the beloved daughter of the late John Willie Smith and the late Lorine Hope Smith. Betty Jean Myles leaves to cherish her memory her son, Willard Smith of Chicago, IL; her daughters, Glenie Wilson McClung (Kevin) of Olive Branch, MS, Cynthia Smith of Houston, TX, Tiffany Myles Cobb (Sherell), of Fort Worth, TX, and LaTasha Myles of Houston, TX. She also leaves her brothers, Lester Hope of Holly Springs, MS, and Bradley Hope (Elvira) of Byhalia, MS. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Wille Ring Smith, Dorothy Smith, and Laverne Hope Crutcher, as well as her brothers, Gary Hope and Larry Hope. Betty Jean was also blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Betty Jean was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah M.B. Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi, where she served with dedication on the Mother’s Board and in the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and she was committed to serving the Lord through her actions, her prayers, and her steadfast support of others.
In her daily life, Betty Jean found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful moments. She enjoyed puzzle books, shopping, ministry, dancing, and helping others. She had a lively spirit and a generous nature, and she was always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Those who knew her will remember her for her loving presence, her sense of humor, and the way she made others feel welcomed and cared for. She had a special gift for making ordinary moments feel memorable, and her love touched many lives in quiet but lasting ways.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 2026, at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel 140 North Memphis Street Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St. Paul M.B. Church 1393 State Hwy 309 South Byhalia, MS 38611.
Burial will follow at Autumn Woods Memorial Park 6240 Davidson Road Olive Branch, MS 38654.
