Betty Jean Partlow Hooks, 77
December 18, 1947 – May 22, 2025
Beloved, Betty Jean Partlow Hooks, the first child of James Partlow and Jinnie Mae Mabry, was born December 18, 1947, in Lee County, Mississippi.
Betty was a former member of Rising Star Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at a young age. Later, she moved her membership to White Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she became a member of the choir and was known by many members as “Queen.” She was faithful until God wanted her back. She loved and enjoyed the fellowship and worship.
Betty received her education from the Tupelo Public School System. In the year of 1966, she graduated with her classmates at George Washington Carver High School, where she enjoyed participating in the choir, Try-High Y, in the Carver Blue Devils band as a flag guard. It was an honor to be selected by her schoolmates to be Ms. Blue Devil.
Upon graduating high school, she attended Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, later graduating with Honors.
She was a former employee of North Mississippi Medical Center as a Ward Secretary, Rex Plaza, People’s Bank, and a retired employee of the North Mississippi Medical Center Blood Bank.
Betty loved spending quality time with her family and many friends and visitors at the Diversicare of Tupelo. Most of all she enjoyed, just to name a few of her hobbies, watching movies, cooking, dancing, singing and reading.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Michael Mabry, two uncles, James Mabry, Leon Mabry, two aunts: Mattie Spencer and Minnie Mabry.
Betty has left behind to forever cherish her memory and sweet smile her devoted sisters, Brenda Mabry of Tupelo, Mississippi, Virgina Whitfield, Carol Coleman, Gail Coleman Ward and one brother, Michael Coleman of Racine, Wisconsin; her special friend, Sherry Montgomery and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friend
