Betty Lynn Holcomb, 81
October 28, 1943 – July 13, 2025
Betty Lynn Holcomb passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 81 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born in New Albany, Mississippi on October 28, 1943, to the late L.Q. and Fairon Mayhew of Pinedale, Mississippi.
Betty was a graduate of Pinedale High School. She lived in the area until she was married. Betty married her beloved husband, the late Larry G. Holcomb, in 1961 and they were together for 48 years. They lived in many different areas during their married life including Southaven, Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee, Terre Haute, Indiana, Kansas City, Missouri, Dallas, Texas and St. Louis, Missouri. During this time, she held several different jobs including working for Wonder Bread/ Hostess Cake, Federal Express, and Smith and Nephew from which she retired. She was a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union.
Betty lived in Southaven, Mississippi until the death of her husband in 2009. At that time, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri to live with one of her daughters and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter Lori Stone, her grandson Daniel Ullo and her sister Peggy Benefield. Her memory will be kept alive and treasured by her daughters, Leslie Curran (Glenn) of Cedar Hill, Texas, Libby Ullo (Gregory) of St. Louis, Missouri, her grandchildren, John Curran and Abigail Hoff (Patrick), as well as her great grandchildren William Hoff and Rory Hoff. Betty was also a cherished mother-in-law to Glenn Stone, sister to Nita Morris, sister-in-law to Darlene White and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Betty knew she had a strong love for her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy and held a special place in her heart. They affectionately called her Weezer. She had strong faith in the Lord and believed in the power of prayer. She was loving, kindhearted, outspoken and a figure of strength and resilience. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held at later time to be determined.
