Billy “Bill” Leon Yager, 75

June 29, 1950 – September 2, 2025

Billy “Bill” Leon Yager, 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in New Albany, MS, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Funeral services honoring Mr. Yager’s life will be held at 3 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care, with Bro. Bobby Butler officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1 PM until the time of service on Friday, September 5, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care.

Born June 29, 1950, in Holly Springs, MS, to the late Martin Luther Yager and Jackie Baugham Yager McNeely, Bill lived a life marked by hard work, love for family, and a playful spirit.

His professional career included many years of dedicated service at Prairie State, Union Auto, Master-Bilt, and Pilot Travel Center, where he worked faithfully until his health no longer permitted.  A skilled welder, mechanic, and woodworker, Bill found joy in creating and sharing handmade birdhouses with his family and friends.  He also loved tending to his farm animals, and hosting gatherings with his close circle, affectionately known as the “Myrtle Mafia.”

Anyone who knew Bill was, at one time or another, the target of his mischievous teasing; a lighthearted gesture that showed how much he cared.  His warmth, humor, and generosity will be remembered always, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.

Bill will be profoundly missed by his wife of fifty-five years, Patricia “Pat” Liccardi Yager, his three children, Billy Yager, Lorie Keener (Clay), and Debi Bell (Eric), four brothers, Melvin Yager (Teresa), Bo Yager, Randy Yager (Diane), and Kevin Yager, three sisters, Mary Kathryn Moore, Kathy Heathcock, and Corrine Nowlin, four grandchildren, Tosha Graham, Abby Edwards, Mason Keener, and Bo Keener, three great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Gene Liccardi (Nancy), and Mike Liccardi (Bonnie), and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and Charles Edward Yager.
