Billy Floyd Wilbanks, 63

June 12, 1962 – March 13, 2026

Billy Floyd Wilbanks, known by many as Bill, departed this world and entered into his eternal rest on Friday night, March 13, 2026, at his home in Tippah County, surrounded by the place he loved most.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Billy will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time. He always believed there was no need in making a fuss when you’re gone, but rather to spend time together while you’re here, sharing laughter and cherishing the good memories made along the way.

Born on June 12, 1962, Mr. Billy was the son of the late Floyd and Irene Sides Wilbanks. He received his education from Ripley High School, where his outgoing personality and strong-willed spirit were evident to all who knew him. Known to many as “Wild Bill,” he carried a larger-than-life personality that made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.

On August 5, 1985, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Cullver Wilbanks, who survives. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys of everyday living. Mr. Billy worked for many years with Southern Towing, spending long days on the riverboat before later serving the Town of Blue Mountain, where he also proudly gave his time to the Blue Mountain Fire Department, a role he truly enjoyed and took great pride in.

A Christian and faithful member of Mt. View Baptist Church, Mr. Billy found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. Whether hunting in the woods, fishing along the banks of a quiet stream, or kayaking down the Buffalo River while camping beneath the stars, those were the moments that brought him the greatest joy.

In his later years, as life began to slow down, he discovered that his favorite place of all was right at home. His back porch became what he often called his “little piece of Heaven.” There he could be found sitting quietly, listening to the radio, watching the deer wander through the yard, and holding a warm cup of coffee in his hand.

Outgoing, fun-spirited, and full of life, Mr. Billy had a way of making the ordinary moments feel special. While he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, his memory will live on in the simple things — a quiet morning with coffee, the sound of an old song playing on the radio, or a peaceful evening by the river. In those moments, his family and friends will smile and know that “Wild Bill” is never far away.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, memories will continue to be cherished by his son, Bobby Wilbanks (Shauna); his daughter, Cindy Moffitt (Justin); his four grandchildren, Kiley and Nathaniel Wilbanks, and Braxton and Alya Moffitt; his great-granddaughter, Faisley Wilbanks; along with his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended cousins, and many friends whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his brothers and sisters.
