Billy Wade Meeks, 69
June 11, 1956 – January 10, 2026
Billy Wade Meeks, age 69, departed this earthly life and entered into his Heavenly home on Saturday, January 10, 2025, at his residence in Tippah County, surrounded by the peace and familiarity of the life he loved.
Funeral services celebrating Mr. Meeks’ simple yet deeply meaningful life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. His dear friend, Bro. Doc Shelton, will offer words of comfort, and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Born on June 11, 1956, Billy Wade was the son of the late Marvin Wade Meeks and Olene Meeks. He received his education from Falkner High School and on June 7, 1980, was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Mrs. Vicky Bullock Meeks, who preceded him in death. Their life together was rooted in love, hard work, and shared devotion.
A man of honest labor and quiet pride, Billy Wade spent his entire life as a self-employed farmer. He was a skilled mechanic who could often be found working on tractors and farm equipment, baling hay, or tending to the everyday tasks that came with caring for the land. Farming was not just his livelihood—it was his way of life, one he embraced with contentment and dedication.
A Christian man of simple faith, Billy Wade was genuine to his core—what you saw was truly what you got. He never sought attention or admiration, yet earned both through his kindness and authenticity. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: piddling around his shop, visiting with friends who stopped by to talk, and sharing a laugh with anyone he met. With an easygoing nature and a warm personality, he never met a stranger.
In a world where so many strive to be more than they are, Billy Wade was perfectly content being exactly who he was. He understood that life’s truest riches were not found in material possessions, but in family, friendship, faith, and an honest day’s work. While his presence will be deeply missed by those who loved him most, there is great comfort in knowing that he is now healed, resting in peace, and tending fields far greater—farming the land of Heaven and enjoying the rewards prepared for him by his Maker.
Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Chasity Street (Chris), Jennifer Johnson (Tim), and Ashley Britt (Justin) a brother, Tim Meeks, half sister, Dorothy Plaxico, seven grandchildren, Drew and Cole Street, Haley Raines (Andrew) Kelsey Bullock (Jake), Cooper Vick (Madison), and Jack and Caroline Britt, and one great granddaughter, Navy Mill Street, along with a wide circle of friends and extended family.
In addition to his wife and parents, Billy Wade was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Claire.
