Biscuits and Jam Farmers’ Market: place to be Saturdays
New Albany’s Biscuits & Jam Market is in full swing this time of the year. Plan to arrive pretty early on these Saturday mornings if you are “hunting” specific locally grown prizes, as the competition can be stiff. Fresh produce, crafts and delicious homemade food are all to be had on the banks of the Tallahatchie River. With a jam filled biscuit and a cup of coffee, compliments of New Albany’s Sugaree’s Bakery and AC’s Coffee, one can roam the market area making selections and listening to the live music that is provided every Saturday morning.
Today, John West played and sang some folksy/bluesy selections as the thermometer rose above 90 degrees by 10AM, combining with Mississippi humidity to produce a “real feel” of 106 degrees. Good job, John.
The New Albany Biscuits & Jam Farmers’ Market has been declared the number two top market in Mississippi. A lot of planning and local pride are involved in this effort, and it shows. Check it out, if you haven’t yet joined the fun.
