Officers investigate shots fired report near Blue Springs

The Union County Sheriff’s Department investigated a report of shots fired near Blue Springs about 2 p.m. Monday.

While the incident remained under investigation, it appeared from early reports that a shot hit the ground near the porch of a residence and frightened the woman who was there.

She was not reported injured and Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said it did not appear to be a deliberate act. Officers were looking into where the shot came from.

An initial rumor said that MDOT workers were fired on but apparently they were working in the area, heard shots and called 911.
