Board approves equipment purchases for Sheriff’s Dept. and West Union Volunteer Fire Dept.

Monday’s meeting was brief, lasting about 10 minutes. Most of the items on the agenda were approved with minimal discussion. You can view the agenda items below. The board did examine quotes to purchase equipment for county services:

  • (Timestamp 7:15) Quotes for the purchase of a 2024 Chevy Silverado for the Sheriff’s Department. One quote was from Cannon Chevrolet Buick in Oxford for $47,000 even; another was from Dabbs Chevrolet in Brandon for $47,324.91. All specs on the vehicles were the same and the board accepted the lower bid from Cannon.
  • (Timestamp 9:17) Quotes for equipment for the West Union Volunteer Fire Department (paid for with a Legislative Grant Fund). County Administrator Terry Johnson said the items in question were air packs. The first quote was from Sunbelt Fire for $49,344; the second was from Emergency Equipment Professionals (EEP) for $57,816. The board excepted the lower bid from Sunbelt.

The board then voted to go to executive session and the public meeting was adjourned until Monday, November 3, 2025.
