Bobby Carter, 84

May 24, 2025

BELDEN / TUPELO – Bobby Dean Carter, 84, departed this life from his Belden residence on Saturday, May 24, 2025, after a period of declining health. Bobby, a Union County native, was the oldest of two sons born to the late Edgar “Ed” Carter and Ruby Carter. He attended the Union Co. schools and married his sweetheart, Brenda Joyce Miller Carter on March 22, 1958. She died Jan. 11, 2025, a marriage of 67 years. Bobby spent much of his working life with Triangle Distributors retiring as shop manager. He was co-owner of a pallet company until full retirement. A member of GumTree Presbyterian Church, he attended The Orchard Church until he got sick. Bobby had a unique personality born out of his Appalachian roots of which few could conquer. He was argumentative but always ending his argument with a self-deprecating joke that made him likeable. A prize-winning Southern storyteller, he could spin a yarn with the best of them – and loved doing so. He enjoyed his breakfast stops at Jack’s on West Main and Huddle House in East Tupelo where he chewed the fat with all his old geezer buddies. He was an avid stock market watcher and enjoyed watching NASCAR, being a fan of Dale Earnhart. His stories will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A service celebrating his life will take place at 11 AM Friday, May 30, 2025 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Pastor Will Rambo officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park next to his beloved Brenda. Visitation will be from 4 PM – 6 PM Thursday, May 29, 2025 and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Bobby is survived by his children, Eddie Carter and wife, Nichole of Greenbrier, Ark.; Lesia Carter Jakubs of Tupelo, and Sonya Carter Beard and husband, Joey of Lufkin, TX, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends.
