Bobby Wayne Cobb, age 81, known affectionately as Bobby by his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at his home in Myrtle, MS. Born on June 16, 1943, in Marks, MS, he was a man whose warmth and passion for life touched everyone he met.
Bobby’s early years were spent in the nurturing care of his parents, Reeves Wasson Cobb and Lottie Jane Robbins Cobb. His journey through life was one of dedication and love, a path that led him to his cherished wife, Barbara Crouch Cobb. Their remarkable union lasted sixty-four years, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Barry Cobb and Ronnie Cobb (Pam). Bobby was the proud grandfather to Nathan Cobb (Ashley), Brad Cobb (Kristin), and Kinsey Huckaby (Isaac), and a doting great-grandfather to Elaina, Addy, Kinley Brooke, and Grayson Cobb. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and love. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Harold Clinton Cobb, whom he fondly remembered throughout his life.
Bobby’s commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement in various associations. He was a member of the West Ingomar Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. His love for the outdoors was reflected in his membership with the Ole South Bass Club, New Albany Bass Club, and North MS Knife Collectors. Additionally, he honorably served in the MS National Guard, a testament to his loyalty and service to his country.
Those who knew Bobby could attest to his friendly disposition and his handy and resourceful nature. His passion was evident in all his pursuits, whether it was raising German Shepherds, fishing, or tending to his yard. He was also an avid knife collector and had an impressive array of model cars. His collections were a source of pride and joy, and he loved sharing them with visitors, often engaging in long, animated conversations about each piece.
Before his health declined, Bobby could often be found outdoors, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. His laughter and stories were the highlights of family gatherings, and his presence brought a sense of comfort and happiness to those around him. He believed in living life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same.
Bobby’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the tales of his fishing adventures, the beauty of the gardens he nurtured, and the cherished moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby Wayne Cobb was a man who truly made the world a better place simply by being in it.
As we bid farewell to Bobby, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with purpose, and a man that loved his family.
A visitation for Bobby will be Thursday, December 5, 2024, at United Funeral Service from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, also at United Funeral Service, beginning at 11:00 am with Bro. Marty Merritt and Bro. Nathan Cobb officiating. Burial will be at Beulah Cemetery in Myrtle, MS. Pallbearers will be Brad Cobb, Russ Massengill, Chris Matkins, Isaac Huckaby, Joey Jennings, Kevn Yager, Randy Meyers, and Johnny Jones.
