Bobby John Meeks, 85

On Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023, Bobby John Meeks, 85, lifelong resident of Tippah County, departed this life at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Meeks will be at 2 Pm Thursday, February 16 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15 from 5 PM to 8 PM and will continue Thursday from 9 AM until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Mr. Meeks was born August 10, 1937 in Tippah County, the son of the late Kye Payton and Lottie Hermie Waldon Meeks. He received his education in the Shady Grove Public School System and was employed as a carpenter throughout his life. On April 13, 1968, he married his beloved wife, Neva Mays Meeks who survives.
A member of Whittentown Baptist Church, Mr. Meeks will be remembered for his love of the outdoors that included fishing, watching his chickens and gardening, especially growing tomatoes. Weekly programs such as wrestling, the Branson Missouri Gospel Group and anything pertaining to Donald Trump were favorites, to name a few.
A man with a giving heart, exceptional humor, fun spirit and memorable personality, Mr. Meeks believed family is where life begins and love never ends and for that, his family is thankful. Today, Valentine’s Day 2023, the Lord and Savior is rejoicing with our cherished sweetheart and we will meet again where no tears or sorrow will ever dim our eyes.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, memories will continue to be shared by four daughters, Vicki Richerson of Bristow, OK, JoAnn Jones (Virgle) of Michie, TN, Billie Jean Smith (Tommy) and Nancy Luttrell (Marvin), both of Ripley, three sisters, Jane Cornelius of Ripley, Brenda Roberts (Wallace) and Rebecca McClain, both of Baldwyn, a brother, Charles “Buddy” Meeks (Linda) of Blue Mountain, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Meeks, a sister, Nylene Stroupe, two brothers, Leroy Meeks and Paul Meeks, a grandson and great granddaughter.
