Bobby Nobles, 86

August 25, 1938  –  May 27, 2025

Robert Newton Nobles, Sr., affectionately known as Bobby, passed away peacefully at his home in New Albany, Mississippi, on May 27, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Pheba, Mississippi, on August 25, 1938, Bobby was a man of integrity and strength. A hard worker with a strong work ethic, he spent over 45 years as an over-the-road truck driver, traveling millions of safe miles. He was well known in the trucking community by his CB handle, “Matchbox.”

Bobby was a Master Mason and a Shriner.

At home, he was loved and adored, known affectionately as Bobby, Daddy, Pop, or Papaw. His pleasant and selfless nature endeared him to all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. Because of his testimony in Jesus Christ, his family finds comfort in the promise of a reunion with him one sweet day.

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death… we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 36 years, Annette Nobles, and his children:

Rob Nobles (Pam), Mike Nobles (Sonya), Vicki Hardin Bramlett (Brian), and Frieda Fair.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Hunter Hardin (Bailey), Josh Hardin (Ashley), Levi Bramlett, Meg Bramlett, Logan Nobles (Katie), Madison Nobles, Jayme Nobles, Zoey Austin, Chad Williams (Tasia), Adam Williams (Wendelyn), and Adrian Akin (Dustin); 11 great-grandchildren (with one great-grandson on the way); and one great-great-grandchild.

Bobby is also survived by his brothers Tommy Nobles, Gene Nobles, Mickey Nobles, and Roy Nobles; a special brother-in-law and close friend, Billy Ivy; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special little puppy, Sissy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Hardin, Josh Hardin, Logan Nobles, Adam Williams, Jaydon Akin, and Dustin Akin. Levi Bramlett and Chad Williams will serve as an honorary pallbearers.
