Tupelo – Mrs. Bonnie Landrum McGehee, age 88, died Monday, May 18, 2026 at her son’s home while on hospice. She was born August 14, 1937 in Kemper County, Mississippi to the late Curtis Lee Landrum and Mary Emma Landrum. In 1944 they moved to Miami, Florida. When she was in high school she began modeling and soon became Miami’s top model. She did a private fashion show for JF Kennedy and Jacqueline in Palm Beach, FL and was in movies and magazines like Vogue, Life, and Seventeen. In 1956 she married Richard Kenneth McGehee and they moved to Tupelo for Richard’s employment with Bell South in 1975. Bonnie worked as an assistant to several ENT doctors and for several surgeons as an operating room technician. After Richard took an early retirement they traveled by RV across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, often with their close friends.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Richard Curtis McGehee (Debbie); her grandchildren William Curtis McGehee (Ashley) of Celebration, FL and Mellie McGehee Trevas (Hudson) of Strasbourg, France; great-grandchildren Bonnie Rae McGehee, Leo McGehee Trevas, and another on the way; one brother Sam Landrum (Ann) of Raymond, MS; sister-in-law Sally Dotson of Topeka, KS; best friend Martha Stewart of Tupelo, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Kenneth McGehee, her son Kenneth Lee McGehee, and sister Mary Jones.
