Buddy Brandon, 88
July 29, 1936 – July 11, 2025
PONTOTOC – James “Buddy” Brandon, at age 88, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 after a brief illness. Born in Pontotoc County on July 29, 1936 to the late Earl Guyton Brandon and Rudelle Watts Brandon, he grew up in Pontotoc and graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1953. After graduation, he pursued a career working for the FBI in Washington, D.C. where he met his future wife, Alice. After moving to Memphis, he was employed by and retired from the Memphis Police Department. He and his wife returned to Pontotoc after retirement and kept busy spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and tending to his garden and lawn. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church and a 32-degree Mason and Shriner.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 14, 2025, at West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc with Rev. Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Monday only at the Church. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel is honored to serve the Brandon family.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela Glover (Jeff) of Nesbit, MS; his grandchildren, Jackie Glover of Hernando, MS, and Allen Glover (Devon) of Fairview, TN; a great-grandson, Owen James Glover; his sister, Earl Dean Huey of Pontotoc; nieces, Melba Wilson (Bobby) of Tupelo and Martha Singletary (DJ) of Pontotoc; and his caregiver, Mrs. Mert White, good friend and personal angel on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Britt Brandon; his sister, Clastine Dillard; and parents, Earl and Rudelle Watts Brandon.
