C.D. Peters, 83

September 13, 1940 – May 24, 2024

CD (Clarance Denmon) Peters was called home by his Lord & Savior on May 24, 2024.  Born on September 13, 1940, he was the third-born to a family of 7 children to James Carroll Peters and Virginia Grace Jamieson Peters.  He was one of five boys and two sisters.  His mother was widowed at an early age; he and one of his brothers stayed close to help take care of her until such time she had to go to a skilled care facility.

The Peters are kid-loving people, so you would think never having any would have made him sad.  But no…he loved being with his brothers and sisters and all the nieces and nephews they brought with them.  Family time was full of jokes, laughter and just plain “picking on the kids”.  This is time together the family remembers with a smile.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Tupelo and attended the Make a Difference Sunday School Class.  He was a hard worker doing farm work for a number of years, mechanic work at International Harvester Tractor and later worked at Busylad.  He also did volunteer work at North Mississippi Medical Center and at Sanctuary Village Shoppe.

CD was self-sufficient until 5 years ago when his health started to decline.  He was cared for by nieces and nephews just as though he were their daddy. He never lost his joy during his ailments.  He was always happy.  We count that as a blessing.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, James “Buddy” Peters and Clyde Peters; two sisters, Beatrice Parker and Lerah Edwards; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Peters; brother-in-law, Curtis Parker; a nephew, Wayne Parker; and a great nephew, James Harris Phillips.
He is survived by brothers Mack Peters (and wife, Betty) and Terry Peters (and wife LaRue).  He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Lawrence “Winky” Edwards and nine nieces and nephews.

Services honoring CD’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Ed Earnest officiating.  Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Pegues, Tupelo.  Burial will be in Plantersville Cemetery.  His great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
