Callie Charline Bishop, 83

June 14, 1942  –  July 30, 2025

Tupelo-Callie Charline Dillard Bishop, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2025 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi after a brief period of declining health. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Bishop leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to family and community.



Born to Charles J. Dillard and Mildred Buchanan Dillard Cole on June 14,1942 , Callie grew up in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. She graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1959 and began her professional life shortly thereafter at Savings Oil Company. In 1960, she joined Pennsylvania Tire & Rubber Company, where she worked faithfully until the plant’s closure in 1979. With characteristic determination and entrepreneurial spirit, she then took over B&S Pawn Shop in l981, which she managed with pride and purpose until her retirement in 2022.

A longtime member of Furrs Baptist Church, Callie’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was known for her kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to her family.

Callie is survived by her two sons, Tommy Bishop (Tammy) and Steve Bishop (Heather); five grandchildren, Lily Gomez (Noah), Trae Vaught, Lauren Bishop (Liam Little), Hudson Bishop, and Hallie Grace Bishop; and Two great-granddaughter, Valerie Joe Gomes, and Willow Vaught. She also leaves behind her brother, Billy Wayne Dillard (Shirley), and her brother-in-law, Joe Parker.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry T. Bishop; her parents; her grandparents, Jack and Viola Dillard and Ed and Flora Buchanan; her mother-in-law, Tempie Bishop; her father-in-law, Ned Bishop; and her sister, Jackie Parker.

A longtime fan of Elvis and an member of the Tupelo Elvis Presley Fan Club, she dressed to the 9’s, loved hummingbirds and the color purple. Callie’s life was one of strength, grace, and quiet perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her and will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she loved.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 1, 2025 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her former pastor, Bro. Steve Cohea officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from Noon-service time Friday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel.
