Cardell Edwards, 81

Palmetto – Mr. Cardell Edwards, 81, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo following a brief illness. He was born November 16, 1944 in Roxie, MS to the marital union of Alphonso and Annie Mae Edwards. Cardell married Mary A. Edwards on May 8, 1966 and they shared 59 years and 6 months together. In 1966 he moved to Tupelo where he and Mary lived and raised their family in the Palmetto community. He was a high school graduate and earned his Cosmetology License after attending Barber School at Foster’s Cosmetology School in Ripley. He owned and operated Style Master Barber Shop on Green Street in Tupelo for more than 50 years.
Cardell had a strong faith and attended Palmetto CME Greater Church for 5 years and Greater Elevation Ministries. He enjoyed cutting hair, hunting (especially deer), fishing, loved the outdoors, loved playing sports and most of all he loved his family and grandkids who lovingly knew him as PawPaw.
A celebration of his life and home-going will be at 10 AM, Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at Greater Elevation Ministry, 1169 Hillsdale Drive, Tupelo, MS, with Dr. Jonathan Bass officiating. Burial will be at Palmetto CME Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to service time Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Edwards of Palmetto; his son, Vincent R. Edwards of Jackson, MS; his daughter, Sharon Edwards Stokes (Michael) of Charleston, S.C.; 8 grandchildren, Aarion Edwards, Vincent Ridell Edwards, Jr., Jayla Edwards, Jaylen Edwards, Santana Rogers, and Danielle Duffy; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Cherry Smith of Detroit, MI and Barbara Jones of Harvey, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Vera T. Washington; three brothers, Jerry Edwards Sr., Lucien Edwards, and Otis (OD) Edwards.
