Career & Technical students score wins at state HOSA competition
The student organization Health Occupational Students of America (HOSA) state leadership competition was recently held in Jackson.
The Career and Technical Center at New Albany High School had twenty-three students to participate in the HOSA competition. Hailey Adsit, Casey Clark, and Demetria Shumpert placed 1st in Public Service Announcement; Shannon Boyd and Jack Durrett placed 2nd in Community Emergency Team; Shelby Allen placed 1st in Transcultural Health Care; Bethany Farrar placed 3rd in Dental Assisting; Tabitha Greenwood placed 4th in Nursing Assisting; and Brooke Moody placed 3rd in Clinical Nursing.
These students are eligible to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Competition in June. The HOSA International Leadership Competition will be held in Orlando, FL. Along with the opportunity to compete, they have also earned a total of $30,000 in scholarship money. April Voyles is the Health Science instructor and also serves as the HOSA advisor.
