Carnell Copeland Kilgo, 73
March 13, 1951 – January 14, 2025
Carnell Copeland Kilgo entered this world to Elizabeth Copeland and Julius Weatherspoon on March 16, 1951, in Guntown, MS. She was the tenth child of fourteen children, maternally.
Carnell was a member of Mount Moriah Holiness Church and attended Saltillo High School and Lowes High School in Guntown, Mississippi.
Known affectionately as, “Nell.” She loved chewing gum, especially Juicy Fruit and Double Bubble, perfume, grape “pops”, and ice cream. One of her greatest passions was singing hymns and older devotional songs and having people sing to her. She also would often be found asking her loved ones for $3.00.
Nell became visually impaired in her 20s, however, that did not stop her from knowing everybody’s voice and having a top notch memory.
She cherished having visitors and was often spoiled by her “best friends,” the Tupelo Nursing & Rehab caregivers.
Nell departed this life January 14, 2025, in the early morning hours.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jimmie B. Copeland, Katie Lue Copeland, Marcell Copeland, Reba Hickenbottom, Robins Copeland, Elizabeth Betts, and Mancy Copeland.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister Velva Hill (Bishop Rendell); five brothers, Evandis Copeland, McKell Copeland (Annette), Bishop Jimmy Copeland (Paula), Randy Copeland (Terry), Gene Copeland; Brother-In-Law, Booker T. Betts, Sister-In-Law, Annette Copeland; and a host of relatives.
