Catherine Irene Crane, 94

March 1, 1931 – July 28, 2025

Catherine Irene Crane, age 94, died peacefully at home Monday, July 28, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on March 1, 1931 in Smyr, Texas to Edward Patton Smith and May Bell Smith. She retired from Ramsey & Young Pharmacy in 1993. After retirement, Catherine enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. They were her joy in life. She loved watching college and pro football. She was a member of Longview Baptist Church in Pontotoc.

Catherine leaves behind one daughter, Pam Phillips of Tupelo; Four grandchildren, Shannon (John) Johnson of Tupelo, Stephanie (Heath) Tutor of Cordova, TN, Joseph (Patty) Phillips of Oxford and Lindsey Gilliland of Madison; 12 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and May Bell Smith; her husband, Travis L. “Billy” Crane; two brothers and 5 sisters, and her son-in-law William V. “Bill” Phillips.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their services and compassion.
