FULTON – Cathy Johnson Reedy died Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at home in Itawamba Co. She was 73 years old. Cathy was born August 21, 1952, in Itawamba County to Bertha Hughes Johnson and Vardie Hughes Johnson. She was a graduate of Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University. Cathy received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was employed by the Itawamba County Welfare Department for eight years and the North MS Medical Center for 33 years. Cathy and Sam spent all their free time on their boat at East Port Marina in Iuka, Mississippi. Cathy was a delightful lady whose life touched thousands in countless ways. Her smile and sterling personality made her a great soul.
There will be no formal service. Friends and family may call during a visitation on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 12 PM Noon to 2 PM at Holland Funeral Directors- Tupelo. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in East Tupelo. Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel is honored to serve the family.
Survivors include her husband, Sam M. Reedy, to whom she married in 1992; niece Misty Woodall Costner (Trip) and their daughter, Elizabeth; brother, Prentiss L. Johnson and wife Laura; brother-in-law Tommy Gist; step-children Clay Reedy and Wesley Reedy; step-grandchildren, Adrian Reedy, Lucas Reedy, Eaen Reeder and Richard “Chip” Leonard; great-grandson Jaxson Reedy; special friend who was like a sister, Ellen Maxcy Gallman who became friends at the age of four and her generous friends from over three decades at NMMC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vardie and Bertha Johnson; and a sister, Betty Gist.
Memorials in Cathy’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
