Shop the Block for Charity continues next Friday

New Albany Main Street Association invites everyone to “Shop the Block for Charity” on the Trick or Treat Trail Friday, Oct. 30. The theme is “Trick or Treat Trail,” which means costumes, candy and fall fun while you shop.

Participating Main Street partners will be open for late-night shopping 5-8. p.m. Bankhead Street from the Trailhead Plaza to Farm Bureau will be closed to through traffic so families can enjoy a fun fall evening in historic downtown New Albany.

Participating Main Street retail and restaurant partners have chosen New Albany Boys & Girls Club for the month of October to which a percentage of all sales from 5 to 8 p.m. will go.

Participating Main Street partner retailers and eateries will have tents, specials, give-a-ways, and more.  The Union County Library, Kountry Kids Daycare, Highland House, Boys & Girls Club and First Baptist Church will be setting up trick-or-treat stops.

Local churches and organizations are sponsoring candy and games stations as well. Union County Anchor members will be playing games for candy prizes. Local favorites Tiki Sno Hut and Caddie’s Lemonade Stand will be there.

“Meet up with friends and family to dine, shop and stroll historic downtown,” Main Street Manager Billye Jean Stroud said. “There is always a good time in the heart of the community.”
