Charl McCloud, 81

February 5, 1943  –  July 25, 2024

TUPELO – Mr. Charl David McCloud, age 81, was born to the late Arthur C. McCloud and Ruth McCloud on February 5, 1943 in Dothan, AL. He departed earthly life and realized the rewards of his faith on Friday July 26th, 2024, peacefully in his sleep.



He received Christ in his youth at Old Ship A.M.E. church in Birmingham, AL. For thirty-five years, he was an active member of New Providence M.B.C., serving as an Usher and active in the Brotherhood Department until his health prevented him from participating. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, working in her yard, and mentoring young professionals.

Charl received his secondary education from A. H. Parker High School in Birmingham, AL. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. Charl married Alberta Hatfield in 1965. After being honorably discharged from the service, he attended Miles College in Birmingham and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1972. His career spanned several decades, and he worked as a fireman, in Human Resources, real estate and was an entrepreneur. His career took him throughout the southeast, but ultimately his family called Tupelo home since 1989.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years Alberta, brother Curtis McCloud, and his son Bertram Garnett McCloud. Charl leaves to cherish his memories, son Dr. Mark McCloud (Candice) of Martin, TN, granddaughter C. Brayden McCloud of Tupelo, MS, sisters Renee Cunningham, Las Vegas, NV, Ruth Mock, Detroit, MI, Jean Miller, Birmingham AL, and brother John Woods, Birmingham, AL, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends and relatives.

The family will have a private graveside service at Corinth National Cemetery and Public Memorial Service on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 at New Providence M.B. Church. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.
