Cheryl Whitlock Holley, 77
August 30, 1948 – March 10, 2026
Nettleton-Cheryl Whitlock Riley Holley, at age 77, met her Creator from her Nettleton home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Cheryl, a feisty, cheerful, independent spirit, lived a fulfilled life full of grace, love and understanding. Born to the late John Travis Whitlock and Catherine McCormick Whitlock on Aug. 30, 1948, Cheryl grew up in the family homestead southeast of Nettleton and graduated from Nettleton High School in 1966. She married Johnny Mac Riley, the father of her three daughters at a young age. He died in a tragic automobile wreck on March 14, 1979. Cheryl married Wade Holley, a Nettleton guy, on April 18, l989 and they were blessed with 37 wonderful years of marriage.
Cheryl loved good conversation and was very approachable. She and Wade enjoyed their homes in the Nettleton area and their yard was always spotless with many blooming flowers and plants. Cheryl loved yard work and found peace and strength in tending their yard. She grew up in First Baptist Church-Nettleton, later joined Nettleton United Methodist Church and she and Wade found spiritual strength and manna through their association with Crosspoint Fellowship. She was a valuable employee of Lucky Star Industries in Nettleton as the first office employee. She later worked in the medical field with Hubbard Clinic in Verona for many years and for Dr. Thames Dental Clinic in Nettleton.
Cheryl enjoyed her retirement with her children and the family she loved through her marriage to Wade. She loved, defended and doted over her three daughters with delight. Then came her grandchildren and great grandchildren which brought her exceeding joy. Cheryl had many friends, enjoyed them and was a primary supporter of all things Nettleton!
A service celebrating her life will take place at 1PM Friday, March 13, 2026, at Crosspointe Fellowship Church, 265 Metts Road, Nettleton, with her Pastor, Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs officiating and reflections by Bro. Tommy Galloway. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery east of Nettleton. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, March 12 2026 at Crosspointe Church and from noon-service time on Friday.
Cheryl leaves behind her husband, Wade Holley; her three daughters Karen Riley Malone (Tim) of Mooreville, Kristi Riley Tartt (Bo) Katherine Riley and Debbie Schicht (Richard) all of the Nettleton area; “MyMY’s”Grandchildren, Carmen, Justin, Andrew, Chris, Katie, Karlie, Riley, Kyle, John Evan, John Richard, Helley and Heavener; her brother, John Travis “Johnny” Whitlock (Phyliss) of Haleyville, Ala; numerous great grandchildren and all their other relatives; cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by the girl’s father, Johnny Mac Riley and her parents, Catherine and John Travis Whitlock!
