Chris Cook, 43

January 23, 1981  –  December 7, 2024

Christopher Taylor Cook, affectionately known as Chris to his friends and family, left this world to be in eternal peace on December 7, 2024, at the age of 43. Born on January 23, 1981, in New Albany, Mississippi, Chris was a beacon of joy and love to all who knew him. His final days were spent surrounded by his loved ones in Potts Camp, Mississippi.

The beloved son of Lonnie Taylor Cook and Melody Cox Cook, Chris grew up in a home filled with warmth and laughter. He was a husband to Casie Speck Cook, a devoted father to his two daughters, Bailey E. Cook and Avery G. Cook, and a caring brother to Corey Cook. Chris’s life was further enriched by the love of his grandmother, Peggy Cook, his in-laws Glenn and Gail Speck, his sister-in-law Abby Stroud and her husband Quince, his niece Delilah Stroud, his nephews Nate Stroud and C.J. Cook, and a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Chris’s professional life was marked by his dedication to the MS Forestry Commission and his service at the New Albany Light, Gas, and Water Dept. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his commitment to his family and friends. Despite the challenges he faced after becoming disabled, Chris’s spirit and sense of humor never wavered.

Those who knew Chris understood that his interests were a reflection of his character—full of life and love for the outdoors. An avid hunter, Chris found solace and joy in deer and turkey hunting, embracing the tranquility and challenge of the sport. His competitive spirit shone brightly when it came to softball and baseball, where he always wanted to win, but also to forge lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.

Chris’s heart of gold extended beyond his competitive pastimes. He was known as an encourager, someone who uplifted others with his kindness and support. His love for his family was boundless, and his dedication to his church and his faith was unwavering. Chris lived his life boldly, guided by his beliefs and his desire to make a positive impact on everyone he encountered. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of New Albany, MS.

A natural prankster, Chris’s sense of humor was one of his most beloved traits. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face will be sorely missed. Chris’s ability to connect with people was extraordinary; he never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Chris Cook’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and passion. He lived his life fully, with every moment infused with the essence of who he was—a son, husband, father, brother, grandson, and friend. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Christopher Taylor Cook, we celebrate a life that, though cut short, was lived to the fullest. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his legacy of love and laughter will endure for generations to come. Chris’s journey on earth has concluded, but his story will be told with fondness and admiration, ensuring that his light continues to shine brightly in the memories of those he loved.
